Nail Art | Easy Spring Nail Designs Step By Step

What better way to say Good-Bye to winter than to get yourself a spring manicure. Whether you do your own nails or you visit a salon, these colorful spring nail art designs will be sure to give you inspiration. Spring nail art designs can be anything from pastel to bright, usually with lots of spring flowers. Here are some of our favorite easy spring nail art designs that you can create with our gel polish range, and just a few basic tools.

Pastel Daisies

A lot of spring designs have flowers, and flowers are not my strong point! But these little white daisies are easy enough for a real novice and are the perfect companion to this pastel purple. You could put this design over any of the colors in the pastel range, or use different colors for the daisies.

What you will need:

Base coat
Color of your choice from the Bluesky pastel range. I used Pastel 08.
Bluesky Studio White
Dotting tool
Medium cut glitter
No wipe topcoat

Step by Step

1. Paint the nails with a thin layer of base coat. (Cure in lamp 60 seconds)

2. Paint 2 layers of your chosen base color (cure in-between each layer)

3. Use a dotting tool to create small flowers. I like to have 5 petals, with an empty space in the center. (this is where you will put the glitter)

Once you're happy with the position of all of your flowers, cure them in the light. You can cure them individually, or paint all the flowers before curing.  Depending on how brave you are!

If you are struggling with creating the flower, try to think of each petal as the point of a star. Your first dot being the center, highest point of "the star"

    4. Add the glitter centers. I used a medium cut glitter, you may need to use a bigger size, depending on how big your flowers are. Pick up individual pieces of the glitter and place into the center of each flower. It should stick to the nail because of the tacky inhibition layer, but if it doesn't, just put a dot of topcoat in the center of the nail before adding the glitter. (If you place the glitter into wet topcoat, cure the nails afterwards to set the glitter in place.)

    5. Topcoat. Cover all of the nails with topcoat and cure in your lamp.

      Water Marbling... without the water

If you've ever tried water marbling with regular nail polish, you will understand the difficulty and frustration that comes along with it. Luckily you can achieve similar results by dragging a few colors of gel polish together before curing, more importantly, without the mess!! Marbling a few colors of gel polish together is a great way to achieve and eye catching design on your nails. Use 2 or 3 contrasting colors for best results.

Try using different colors as a base rather than white.

      What you will need :

      Bluesky Base coat
2 to 3 colors of Bluesky gel polish. I used:
      FW03 Deep Mauve
      WR05 Deep Turquoise
      Bluesky Studio White
      Large dotting tool
      Small dotting tool
      No wipe topcoat

      Step by Step

      1. Paint the nails with base coat, and cure in your lamp .

      2. Apply 2 coats of white, curing each layer.

      3. Apply a third layer of white, but this time DO NOT CURE.

      4. Create large dots on the nail with your first color. DO NOT CURE

      5. Clean your dotting tool and repeat with different colors.

      6. Take your small dotting tool and drag it through each circle. You can drag in one or many directions, have fun with it! When you're happy with your pattern, cure it in the lamp for 60 seconds (2 min UV)

Topcoat and cure! You can create a different look on every finger, or paint some of your nails in full color. Use the same colors you did for your dots to tie it all together.

        Yellow Daisies

For me, spring is all about bright colors and fresh designs. Yellow isn't typically the most popular color to have on your nails but it's the perfect way to welcome in the sunny days ahead this spring. The fresh white lines and cute little daisies are sure to brighten anyone's day.

        What you will need :

        Base coat
        Neon Yellow 03 Sunkissed
        Bluesky Studio White
        No wipe topcoat
        Small detail brush
        Striping brush
        Dotting tool

        Ring Finger Daisy Accent

There are a few things going on in this design, so let's start with the ring finger accent nail. I've chosen to keep the daisy design over a nude natural nail.

Keep each daisy about a third of the height of the entire length of the nail. Start by painting a cross, and then an X. Repeat 2 or three times, staggering them around the nail. Cure for 60 seconds before applying a second coat to the daisies to really make them pop.

At this point they look more like stars than daisies so grab your dotting tool and make the centers of each one yellow. This really completes the look and transforms them into flowers.

The other two accent nails in this design are easy to do but you will need a striping brush and a dotting tool .

To get the best evenly spaced dots, start in the middle and work your way out. Stagger the position of the dots in each row to make the most of your space.

Paint your nail with 2 coats of yellow , curing each layer. Then use a striping brush to create straight, crisp clear lines down the length of the nail. I chose to do a pattern of thick and thin stripes, but you can do yours however you like!

Tie it all together with a plain white and a plain yellow , or add a little bit if glitter like I did here.

        Pastel Pairs

Do you like to keep your manicures on the simple side, but still want a little something? This beautiful manicure features 2 pastels paired with their matching color from the CH Range .

For this look, I painted the thumb, index and middle finger with 2 coats of pink memory. The ring finger and pinky, were painted with 2 coats of purple.
On the thumb, 1 layer of pink holographic gel is applied over the pink. This collection of glitter gels are transparent, so the under color shows through slightly.
On the middle and pinky, 1 layer of purple holographic gel is applied. By applying purple glitter gel over the middle pink nail, the design blends beautifully.
Cure all your layers in between and finish off with a No wipe topcoat

        Roses are Red ...

I love the old fashioned feel of this Rosey design. You can really get creative with this one and try different sizes and colors. Just make sure you use a lighter shade and and a darker shade of the same color to create the roses.

        What you will need:

        Base coat
Your choice of pastel gel polish. I used:
        FW 06 Pink Rose
        80511 Rosebud
        Bluesky Studio White
        Green
        Detail brush
        Dotting tool
        No wipe topcoat

        Step by Step

        1. Paint your nails with base coat and 2 coats of your chosen pastel color. After curing your second coat, use your dotting tool to create messy circles on the nail.  Use the lighter of the 2 pinks. You don't want the edges to be circular, let it look natural like an actual rose.

        2. Using a small detail brush and the darker pink polish, make a tiny '' c " in the center of one of the circles.

        3. Repeat step 2, but have the "c" face in the opposite direction.

        4. Work your way to the outer edge of the flower, creating more curved lines. Overlap the lines without them touching each other.

        6. Repeat this process on all of the flowers and cure them in the lamp.

        7. Use the lighter of the two pinks to go over the roses again, overlapping with the darker lines.

        8. Add some dark green leaves on the sides of each flower and put it back in the light to cure.

You can do them large as above or you can do a smaller group, over a white band as below.

Once you're happy with everything and all of it has been cured in the lamp, finish off each nail with a layer of topcoat.

          Stripes of Purples

Purple is my favorite, but you can do this with any color. It also looks great with a few neon's over a white base.

          What you will need:

          Base coat
          4 or 5 colors of gel polish - I used :
          FW03 Deep Mauve
          Pastel 08
          Neon 11 Plum Crazy
          Striping brush
          No wipe topcoat

          Step by step

          1. Paint a layer of base coat and cure.

          2. Apply 2 layers of your base color, curing both layers separately for 60 seconds each (LED)

          3. Using the striping brush, paint lines from the cuticle, about half the way down the nail.

          4. Once you are happy with all the stripes, apply topcoat and cure.

I cured the stripes 2 colors at a time to prevent them bleeding into each other.

              Neon leopard print

Leopard print is very popular right now, why not be a bit different and use neon colors instead of browns. They look great on a white background, perfect for spring !

              What you will need:

              Bluesky Base coat
              Bluesky Studio White
3 or 4 bright colored gel polish : Check out this Neon Range
              Dotting tool
              Detail brush
              No wipe topcoat

              Step by step

1.Paint your nails with base coat and cure.

2.Paint 2 layers of white on your nails, curing each layer for 60 seconds LED

3.Use your dotting tool to create small blobs on the nail. Space out your colors so that they're evenly distributed. Cure.

4.Use your detailing brush to sloppily outline each colored blob in black. You don't want it to be too neat. CURE.

              5.Apply topcoat and cure.
